Although AMM is not much of a beer afficianado, he was pleasantly surprised when he tasted Suntory’s The Premium Malt’s. The Premium Malt’s was easy to drink, a sentiment that was shared with a few other non-beer drinkers. The after-taste was quite pleasant and not overly bitter, AMM thinks its a little like Erdinger but a tad more hop-ish taste (due to a double brewing proccess with European Hops).
If you’ve never heard of Suntory The Premium Malt’s before, its ok as it was only recently officially launched in Singapore last month as shared by AMM’s friend.
Some little factoids about Suntory The Premium Malt’s
- It is the #1 premium beer in Japan
- Won the Grand Gold Medal award for 3 consecutive years in 2005-2007 at the Monte Selection contest
- The only japanese beer from Japan brewed in Japan
- Made from natural spring water in Japan, thus breweries are built near spring water sources in Japan
This beer goes really well with Japanese food! AMM has also tried it with steamboat but feels that it doesnt go very well, so if you’re having Japanese food, do give Suntory The Premium Malt’s a try! Dont forget to KAMPAI before drinking too!
If you are wondering where you can get your hands on it, AMM believe’s it should be available at most clubs and Japanese restaurants, otherwise a safe bet is Meidi-ya & Isetan supermarkets, and is retailing at $4.50 per can.
