Yup! The most prestigious grand slam of the year is back! It actually started yesterday if AMM is not wrong.
The return of the William sisters was a definate shake-up to the women’s draw even though they have been missing-in-action due to various ailments that has plagued them with Venus nursing a hip injury and Serena missing the entire season since hoisting the Rosewater Cup last year!
Both of them returned in the Wimbledon warm-up tournament at Eastbourne, while Venus has a couple of matches in the tournament, Serena lost in the first round.
While this is already old news, Venus is through to the 2nd round of Wimbledon and Serena is to take the courts today on the 2nd day of the 3rd grand slam of the year.
Everyone knows to take the Williamses seriously as Venus’s best surface is grass, having won 5 Wimbledon grand slams, one of only 3 in the open era to have this record and with Serena obviously a very tough player with 4 Wimbledon grand slams to her name. And it is definately no secret that the William sisters usually always play their best at the grand slams.
Will they make it to the end? We will see as the story develops.
