TED : Johanna Blakley – Lessons from fashion’s free culture

AMM recently came across the TEDxUSC talk on fashion’s culture in terms of its intellectual property – why is the culture of copying so rampant in the fashion industry and why that fuel’s the industry’s success.

The speaker, Johanna Blakley puts it quite simply in this quote, “One of the magical side effects of having a culture of copying is the establishment of trends. People think this is a magical thing. How does it happen? Because it’s legal [in the fashion industry] for people to copy one another.”

Being someone who loves and is exploring his love for fashion, the talk is extremely interesting.
